The vision for the Sullivan High School Science PLC is to empower students to incorporate interpersonal, personal, 21st century, social/emotional and scientific skills into their daily practice. This will allow our students to have the greatest chance for success as citizens, scientists, and in careers or college.
Science Highlights
We have built curriculums that give our students the skills and freedom necessary for critical thinking, design thinking, and career thinking.
Each class is aligned to NGSS and also embeds standards and supports for 21st century learning, social-emotional growth, and common core literacy.
Mission: Sullivan High School Science Department is to create an academically rigorous curriculum that will provide our students with a holistic education that challenges them to think critically, advocate for themselves, apply their knowledge, empower them with choice and agency, and hold them accountable to the changing world around them.

Sullivan has so many caring, dedicated professionals and amazing students with diverse backgrounds. Sullivan is also giving students more agency over their own learning and has a school-wide focus on working for students first. The CTE Health Science Academy attracted me to join Sullivan High School. It blended with my background and was a prospect to deliver my passion of giving back to the community.

Nurturing is an important aspect of any relationship. According to me, Student-Teacher relationship is similar to nurturing a plant. Flowers only bloom if the plant is nurtured adequately. I chose to teach at Sullivan because I feel connected to my students. I am excited to teach biology to students who have recently come to our country. As an immigrant who went to a Chicago Public School, I understand the challenges faced by my students in this diverse urban setting.
