I. Call Meeting to Order
The meeting was called to order at 9:15 a.m.
II. Roll Call
Attending: Mr. Adams, Ms. Bakinpelu, Ms. Chrisp, Mr. Clark, Ms. Evins, Mr. Gonzalez, Ms. Hinojosa, Ms. Lorenz, Ms. Mosak.
A quorum was present.
III. Approve Agenda
The agenda was unanimously approved with 3 amendments, entering the amounts for “checks to be approved.”
IV. Approve Previous Minutes
Minutes of the November 15, 2019 LSC meeting were unanimously approved.
V. Principal’s Report
- LSC Openings: Ms. Ana Llorens was elected to fill the staff position vacated by Mr. Clark. Gabe Gonzalez introduced himself as a candidate for the community representative position vacated by Mr. Shuffleton. The LSC went into closed session and voted to welcome Mr. Gonzalez as the new community representative.
- PAC: Sue Marten is the new chair. She will be doing a newsletter.
- Academic Updates:
- Performance tasks: Teachers are working on Unit 3, Stage 2.
- CIWP (School Improvement Plan): The LSC and parents will be engaged in the spring with the CIWP.
- Testing: ELL Access testing will take place in February.
- Athletics: G/B Basketball, Cheerleading, Wrestling, Bowling – Both basketball teams moved up from lowest to middle level of competition . Getting right accessories can make every players to feel success in the competition. Hence, you can also use this link to buy wall mount basketball systems here as it is of high quality nature.
- Arts and Activities: Staff and student variety how will take place today (December 20) at 2 p.m.
- Other Updates: Alderwoman Hadden and Mayor Lightfoot donated 3 laptops to students. Digital media students were selected by Ms. Spencer and Ms. Slaughter.
VI. New Business
- P.R. Marketing, Web and Video: The vendor’s revised proposal of $17,172.50 was unanimously approved.
- Participatory Budgeting Project: The bathrooms will be refreshed over winter break. A plaque for the 10th graders who developed the project will be hung in the bathrooms.
- Student Store: The presentation will be made at the next meeting.
- Attendance Incentive: The presentation (for bus card) will be made at the next meeting.
- MLK 8th Grade Basketball Tournament: This event for feeder school 8th graders will be hosted by Friends of Sullivan
- Gym floor: The floor has been completed.
- PPC (Professional Problems Committee): The form for tracking student development (attendance, behavioral health) will be streamlined for consistency across departments.
- PPLC (Professional Personnel Leadership Committee): This group will be leading the work (curriculum, professional development) on the CIWP.
- Checks to be approved: Requests for a check for $6,921.75 for PE uniforms, $6,380.00 for bathroom repairs, and $3,621.00 for lead and asbestos removal from the gym were unanimously approved.
- Fundraisers: Requests for fundraisers for the business academy fashion shows, JROTC and a field trip were approved.
- Special program applications: Kilmer is submitting an application for an IB elementary grades program. Sullivan did not apply for anything in this round as the school has already gone through the process for Personalized Learning and is receiving $100,00 each year for that. CTE applications will be considered for the next round.
